El Perro

Imaginary Friend. Many of us had imaginary friends as young children. If your imaginary friend grew up alongside you, what would his/her/its life be like today? (Didn’t have one? write about a non-imaginary friend you haven’t seen since childhood.)

I always wanted man’s oldest friend as my friend. The love it has for you is unmatched. Unfortunately for this very reason I never had a dog as pet. My dad has an incident when his was a child. It was not easy for him to handle the loss of his friend. So to preempt my heart-break, my parents unanimously opposed of having a dog as pet. I was a victim of this classic case of protective parenting!

My closest association with a dog was when I stayed in Coimbatore. My neighbour had a young Dalmatian. Only then I realised the amount of care you have to give a dog. Poor fellow chewed up something and payed several trips to the vet. My neighbour too had sleepless nights! But when it came home after complete recovery I had sleepless nights because it never stopped barking all night!

So this post is to you, my imaginary perro!

  2. yes, it will hurt very much when my dog will pass away. she is now 10 and i already practice an imaginary death, just so i will be prepared. what a shame they only live such a short time. but i wouldn’t want to be without this experience. her love is truly out of this world. all the best when you get a pet dog.
