The Daily Prompt: Flash Talk. You’re about to enter a room full of strangers, where you will have exactly four minutes to tell a story that would convey who you really are. What’s your story?
Again I find it hard to write precisely about today’s daily prompt. The context is not specified. Will I be presenting myself to an interview panel, whose job is to instantly judge me, or talking casually to a gathering of some school kids or their parents, who want to know my journey, or anything else! I am not sure. Depending on the audience I would surely modulate my story.
Before any of this I wonder why others would like to know my story. Of course my life has its share of ups and downs and twists and turns. How would these entice others? Plus I am apprehensive whether the four minutes can justify my quarter century of existence. People so carelessly and ruthlessly start to judge based on their, or largely, perceived “failures” and “successes”. And, taking a cue from Steve Jobs, people love to “connect the dots” of my life as haphazardly as possible, making a collage of zig-zag lines none of which is akin to my sinusoidal story line! I hate it. Frankly. Or may be it is my turn, now, to paint all my audience with the same brush!
Whatever the scenario may be or whatever the reason one wants to know my story is I would want to make a few things about me very loud. Like many others, as on today, I have faced several “failures” but I have not lost my heart. I understood that being brave and sincere are the keys to “my success”. I choose ways which made sense to me. Yes, these decisions did not always yield the desired results but helped me in shedding my wrong notions. This learning habit is the sole reason for my presence. This makes me open-minded. And gives a lot of fodder to my curiosity. There by happiness to me and people around me!
